events that have decidedly marked a way

Chania Conference
On 14-16 June (2001) some 150 representatives of European
islands, and from other regions such as India, met in
Chania (Crete) in order to consolidate the need for a
large-scale strategy aiming to promote the maximum use of
renewable energy sources on islands.

a White Paper for RES and RUE
Strategy and Action Plan for the Republic of Cyprus
The National Technical University of Athens in
collaboration with EREC and the Ministry of Commerece,
Indystry and Tourism of Cyprus have formulated a White
Paper for RES and RUE Strategy and Action Plan for the
Republic of Cyprus.

Renewable Energy and Sustainable
Islands Destinations
EREC (the European Renewable Energy Council), representing
the leading European RES industry and research
associations, is organising a special topic conference on
Renewable Energy Sources for Islands, Tourism and Water
Desalination in Crete, Greece on 26 - 28 May 2003, in
cooperation with INSULA, the International Scientific
Council for Island Development, and RENES, Renewable
Energy Sources Unit of the National Technical University
of Athens, and with the support of the European
Commission, the World Tourism Organisation and TUI AG.
